Several years ago, back in Colorado, we decided to get some chickens. We thought fresh eggs would be so good. Well, Chief came home with the chickens, but we didn't have a pen so he put them in a room out in the barn for the night. The next morning we went out to check them and see how they got along during the night. We out in the yard were our 2 dogs looking smug with blood all over them. Needless to say they found a way into the barn and killed every chicken that was in there.
Skip ahead several years.
He still want chickens, but we all tell to get it right this time and build the pen first.
SO
Yesterday he comes home with a box and in it are 20 day old chicks. They are so cute and all the grandkids that have seen then are in love. They want to hold them, but we told them they have to wait until they are bigger.Last night we put them in a trough with their water and feed and them locked them in the room we keep Tiny (our dog) in. Luckily Tiny is too old and too small to bother the chickens. This morning the chicks and the dog were both fine and Chief is planning on building the pen in the next few days.

yeah for baby chickens, we want some too. But I think our neighbors might complain. Oh well, we are excited to see them in a few weeks.
The baby chicks are so cute, I'm just surprised that Colton didn't see them and ask if he could eat them, the way he does when we drive by a pond full of geese.
